Q-Boat

Radio-controlled boats for deployment of ADCPs and other instruments

The Q-Boat is a rugged electric boat for easy, safe, unmanned measurement of currents, bathymetry, and discharge. The Q-Boat was developed for US and Canadian government agencies expressly for measurement of discharge with acoustic Doppler current profilers. The hull is a very low-drag planing form with a wide beam for stability and good handling characteristics. The Q-boat is available with lead-acid batteries for speeds to 5 fps, and with LiIon or LiPo batteries for speeds up to 20 fps.  Weights are from 90 to 115 lbs.  Two people can easily handle the Q-boat; it fits in the bed of a pickup truck.
