Q-Boat

Radio-controlled boats for deployment of ADCPs and other instruments

The Q-Boat is a rugged electric boat for easy, safe, unmanned measurement of currents, bathymetry, and discharge. The Q-Boat was developed for US, UK and Canadian government agencies expressly for measurement of discharge with acoustic Doppler current profilers. Both an efficient displacement hull and a fast planing hull are available. Both have a wide beam for stability and good handling characteristics. The Q-boat is available with lead-acid batteries for speeds up to 5 ft/s, and NiMH batteries for speeds up to 20 ft/s. Weights are from 65-80 lbs. Two people can easily handle the Q-boat; it fits in the bed of a pickup truck.
