Oceanside, California—8 February, 2007

In 2007, Oceanscience will demonstrate the Underway CTD at locations in the US and Europe. The Underway CTD system consists of a custom low-drag, high-accuracy Sea-Bird CTD probe, a high-speed winch with levelwind, a line rewinder unit, and a davit. The entire system with winch and probe weighs less than 20 kg and is portable. The UCTD is a cost-effective, environment-friendly alternative to expendable sensors. Each demonstration will consist of roughly a half day at sea.

We are planning Spring demos in California and the Gulf Coast. Summer demos are planned for New England and Europe. We will demonstrate the UCTD system in Vancouver in conjunction with Oceans 2007 MTS/IEEE. Other demos may be scheduled if enough interested is expressed.
