Oceanside, California—15 September 2005
The
Oceanscience Group, Ltd. announced the sale of
two Clamparatii instrument mounting systems to
Fugro GEOS for deployment in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Clamparatus allows an acoustic Doppler current
profiler or other instrument to be mounted on
an existing navigation buoy without modifications
or alterations to the buoy. The mounts include
real-time data links to shore stations. RF and
Iridium data links are available.
The Clamparatus was originally developed for NOAA's
PORTS program. PORTS (Physical Oceanographic Real-Time
System) uses US Coast Guard buoys and other platforms
to provide ship masters and pilots with accurate
real-time information needed to avoid groundings
and collisions. Clamparatii are currently used
by government, private and academic institutions
on the Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf coasts. The
standard Clamparatus will fit most large US Coast
Guard buoys and can be provided to fit other buoys.
The Oceanscience Group manufactures a wide variety
of oceanographic and hydrologic instrumentation
platforms for universities, government agencies
and private industry. Products include oceanographic
platforms, data buoys, RF and satellite communication
systems, weather stations, remotely-controlled
instrument boats, and seepage meters. Corporate
offices are in Oceanside, California. For more
