Each year Teledyne Scientific & Imaging
(TS&I), a Teledyne Technologies Company,
recognizes a partner company that has made major
contributions to TS&I’s performance. On
April 1, 2008 Teledyne Technologies announced
the presentation of the 2007 Technology
Partner of the Year Award to The Oceanscience
Group, a world leader in innovative
products for oceanographic and hydrologic applications.
The Oceanscience team of Nick Brower, Stan Hapak,
Steve Walsh, Jerry Charles, and founder Dr. Ron
George played a critical role in the success
of a key Phase 3 DARPA program on Ocean
Wave Energy Harvesting using a buoy-mounted
generator. The objective was to demonstrate
generation of 20 watts of power in a wide range
of sea conditions. The Oceanscience team
had full responsibility for mechanical and electrical
design of the buoy, generators, and all associated
data acquisition hardware.
“Because of its commercial potential and
high visibility (both at DARPA and Teledyne), this
was one of the most critical programs for TS&I
in 2007. With the DARPA program concluded
successfully, Teledyne now has the opportunity
to exploit the technology for its product potential. None
of this would have been possible without the contribution
and dedication of The Oceanscience Group,” said
Dr. Larry Meixner, Executive Director of Materials
Technology, Teledyne Scientific & Imaging. |
