The Riverboat is a small, lightweight,
and rugged deployment tool designed to carry instruments
for river discharge measurements. The standard Riverboat
package provides a user-ready unit complete with wireless
transceivers that enable transfer of real-time data
from water surface to shore computer.
Riverboats are deployed with
a rope from a bridge or by cableway
where no bridge is available. They are also easily towed
behind or beside a manned boat at less established sites.
The Oceanscience Riverboat is
47" long and weighs about 35 lbs with modems, battery,
and profiler installed. It is constructed of polyethylene
with stainless steel and aluminum hardware. It
was developed under contract with the US Geological
Survey and tested at their hydraulics tow tank in Stennis
Space Center, Mississippi.
The Riverboat is used in 25
countries on six continents for a variety of hydrologic
and oceanographic studies. Oceanscience is committed
to providing the finest deployment tools available.
Our Riverboat is constantly being improved in response
to the field experiences throughout the world.
